Gullah Roots Historical Foundation

Daufuskie Island sits at the center of the Gullah Geechee Corridor, across Calibogue Sound and situated between Hilton Head Island, SC and Savannah, GA. It has deep and rich Gullah Roots that were allowed to survive and flourish when Union Soldiers abandoned the island after the Civil War. As a true Daufuskie descendant, it is my hope to maintain collections of this history and culture, preserve our land, and pass this on to future generations; because We Binya!!!(Been Here)

October 2024-Health on the Homefront

February 2025-Black History Ball

July 2025-GullahFEST

Health on the Homefront is an event that includes a healthcare panel discussion to illuminate health disparities in our local community and to acknowledge our complete being, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. This event will be free to the public and we endeavor to keep it that way for years to come. We do ask that you register for headcount purposes.

The Black History Ball is a formal celebration of our history and seeks to have Living History share their stories of triumph and perseverance with us annually. This is a Black-tie event, that will feature different stories each year, so that we may collect them and grow from our past.

GullahFEST will be an inaugural event seeking to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Daufuskie Island which sits at the center of the Gullah Geechee Corridor. It was postponed due to Hurricane Idalia and will be rescheduled in 2025.

Tickets for each event will only be sold on EventBrite according to their timeframe. Due to previous malevolence, tickets are no longer available through this website.
